Some have accused the Metropolitan Police of dropping the case to save money. Others have suggested that blaming the scavenging animals was a \u201cconvenient\u201d way to finally end the three-year-long investigation while justifying senior officers\u2019 enthusiasm for fox hunting.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The couple who first raised the alarm over the \u2018Croydon cat killer\u2019 have vowed to continue the search for a human culprit, and animal rights supporters have started a petition which demands the police reopen the investigation and tells officers: \u201cStop trying to turn foxes into evil creatures when they\u2019re not. You\u2019re making yourselves look like brainless idiots&#8221;&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>One Twitter critic insisted: \u201cFoxes do not leave cat heads outside their owners\u2019 homes. Foxes do not mutilate cats in a similar manner. This is absurd!! \u201cPolice are starting to fail our pets too!!\u201d \u201cThe police have no idea,\u201d added another critic. \u201cFoxes don&#8217;t remove heads place them in the owners garden and kick in the cat flap do they?
