{"id":755314,"date":"2018-11-21T08:19:30","date_gmt":"2018-11-21T13:19:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/arkcenter.us\/?p=755314"},"modified":"2018-11-21T08:19:30","modified_gmt":"2018-11-21T13:19:30","slug":"raising-the-profile-of-animal-law-to-match-the-stakes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/animalrightswatch.us\/?p=755314","title":{"rendered":"Raising the profile of animal law to match the stakes"},"content":{"rendered":"\t<blockquote  class=\"bs-quote bs-quote-1 bsq-t1 bsq-s1 bsq-left\">\n\t\t<div class=\"quote-content\">\n\t\t\t<p>Part of the problem stems from the fact that the law is strictly divided into property and people, said Lovvorn, 'and animals are on the property side of that equation'.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>COLLEEN WALSH:<\/strong> <em>&#8216;According to Harvard Law School lecturer Jonathan Lovvorn, saving the planet and its inhabitants from climate catastrophe begins with the world\u2019s most vulnerable population: animals&#8230; For the second time in three years, Lovvorn is teaching a fall class on wildlife law, hoping to inspire a new generation of lawyers devoted to issues that extend beyond the animal kingdom&#8230; In 2005, he joined the Humane Society to lead its newly formed in-house litigation unit, with the \u201cgoal of making more animal lawyers because there weren\u2019t enough.\u201d He added: \u201cI started teaching pretty soon thereafter also with the goal of making more animal lawyers. \u2026 That ultimately led me to the class at Harvard&#8221;&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Animal protection is far from comprehensive.
