Veteran animal activist John Curtin has been arrested at Camp Beagle, an encampment right outside of MBR Acres (Cambridge, UK), where Curtin has been living for the past five years in protest of animal experimentation. Officers were called to the facility on September 29 after reports that ‘a number of dogs’ were allegedly taken from the site. A 43-year-old woman from Inverness was also arrested on suspicion of burglary, with the incident believed to be linked to an ‘open rescue’ at the site.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

ANIMAL ACTIVISM COLLECTIVE:<\/strong> Veteran animal activist John Curtin has been arrested at Camp Beagle, an encampment right outside of MBR Acres, where Curtin has been living for the past five years in protest of animal experimentation. No one knows yet why Curtin has been arrested or what he\u2019s been charged with, although in a recent interview with Jeremy Loeb, Curtin said \u201cI wouldn\u2019t be surprised if the police arrested me for this, but I\u2019m okay about that because I didn\u2019t plan it, I didn\u2019t organize it. I deliberately, at Camp Beagle, don\u2019t break any laws because the cops are always watching everything I do,\u201d referring to the recent liberation of beagles at MBR Acres…<\/em><\/p>\n

Cambridgeshire Constabulary confirmed that officers remain at the scene as part of investigations into an alleged burglary at the controversial facility. Officers were called to the facility on September 29 after reports that “a number of dogs” were allegedly taken from the site…<\/em><\/p>\n

Video footage posted by Camp Beagle shows at least two activists that were masked using tools to break through the doors of MBR Acres whereas one activist, Bee, purposefully stayed behind unmasked and was subsequently arrested for the rescue.<\/em><\/p>\n

Animal Activism Collective discovered that Curtin had been arrested moments before going live on AAC\u2019s YouTube channel to talk about recent direct action rescues of animals around the world. Curtin was supposed to be on the panel, but instead is sitting in a jail cell.<\/em><\/p>\n
