Donkey owners in Greece get violent after being criticized for giving rides to fat and lazy tourist slobs

The Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) campaigners have claimed they were punched, kicked and shoved before their peaceful protest had even started.

HARLEY TAMPLIN: ‘The owners of donkeys left injured after carrying fat tourists have beaten up a group of people protesting against their mistreatment of the animals… Members of the group Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) had planned to protest against the practice – but were attacked by a 30-strong group of donkey owners in Thira, Greece. The campaigners have claimed they were punched, kicked and shoved before their peaceful protest had even started.

Maria Skourta, the leader of the Athens branch of the organisation, said: “I have been beaten up before, but never like that. When we reached a point they considered safe, they ran behind us, grabbed our placards and burned them. Then they started hitting us with their walking sticks. The two men of our group were thrown to the ground and got kicked”…

Earlier this week pictures surfaced showing the injuries suffered by donkeys on the Greek island of Santorini. Animal rights activists have claimed the animals have been forced to give rides to overweight tourists, leaving them hurt… Campaigners say the donkeys are forced to work long, exhausting hours in the heat and receive little rest and water’.
