Marc Bekoff: Animal-Centered Education For Students of All Ages

MARC BEKOFF: ‘A recent book called Animal Rights Education by Kai Horsthemke, an Associate Professor at KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, caught my eye because of its emphasis on the importance of putting pedagogy and education to use to affect, change, and improve our behavior towards non-human animals–for their benefit, for our benefit, and for the benefit of our planet as a whole.

Part of the book’s description reads, “If animal rights education is philosophically and educationally meaningful, then it can arguably offer a powerful pedagogical tool, and facilitate lasting pro-animal changes.” Animal Rights Education is a wide-ranging read and I’m pleased that Dr. Horsthemke could take the time to answer a few questions about his novel and forward-looking book.
