PROTECTING FRAUD(CHI): PETA calls for the resignation of NIH director Dr. Francis Collins, but turns a ‘blind eye’ on Dr. Anthony Fauci

Fauci’s budget has ballooned to over $6 billion in taxpayer funding annually, at least half of which is being wasted on animal experimentation. Fauci needs to be held accountable.

PENNY STAR: Reaction to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), led by Dr. Anthony Fauci, giving a university a taxpayer-funded grant to conduct experiments using beagles has been vicious, with the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) leading the response. That activist organization told Breitbart News that Francis Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health, which oversees NIAID, should be fired from her post.

“It’s high time to fire NIH director Francis Collins for mismanagement of NIH, waste of taxpayer funds and the continuation of animal experiments that are replaceable by vastly superior, modern, technological breakthrough science,” Kathy Guillermo, PETA senior vice president, said.

“The deadly experiments on dogs are proof that Fauci’s boss is stuck in the failed science of yesteryear,” Guillermo continued. “He is spending billions of dollars on studies that include infecting and cutting up dogs, frightening monkeys, and addicting mice to cocaine that don’t lead to cures or vaccines while humans die from Alzheimer’s, HIV, cancer, multiple sclerosis, ALS, and other deadly ailments.”

“PETA has a roadmap, designed by scientists, that shows how today’s state-of-the-art research methodologies, like organs-on-chips, micro brains in a petri dish, super computers and more can save money, save lives, and modernize medicine,” Guillermo said….

The White Coat Waste Project (WCW) uncovered the story… NIAID directed $424,455 to researchers at the University of Georgia in September 2020 to infect dozens of beagles with disease-causing parasites in order to test an experimental drug on them, according to documents obtained by White Coat Waste Project (WCW)… released via a Freedom Of Information Act request… the 28 beagles were to be allowed to develop infections for three months before being euthanized for blood collection…

Dr. Anthony Fauci, NIAID and the National Institutes of Health as a whole have been under intense scrutiny in recent months over what types of animal testing should be funded with taxpayer grants in light of questions about gain of function experimentation at the Wuhan Institute of Virology…

“It’s not just Wuhan,” WCW Vice President of Advocacy and Public Policy Justin Goodman told the Daily Caller. “Fauci’s budget has ballooned to over $6 billion in taxpayer funding annually, at least half of which is being wasted on more questionable animal experimentation like these deadly and unnecessary beagle tests and other maximum pain experiments.” “Fauci needs to be held accountable for this staggering waste and abuse overseas and right here at home,” Goodman said. “Taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to pay”. PETA’s official statement:

PETA is calling the director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Francis “Blind Eye” Collins, and he must resign. U.S. taxpayers shell out billions of dollars every year to fund NIH, expecting the agency to pay back their investment with urgently needed treatments and cures. Here’s what taxpayers get instead: NIH’s continued reliance on failed animal experimentation and negligence, cruelty, and repeated violations of federal law in the agency’s own animal laboratories. Collins has served as the director of NIH since August 2009…

For years, Collins has turned a blind eye to this gruesome spectacle that he oversees—and to the fact that precious few treatments or cures have come out of his kingdom of suffering. Even as scientific evidence of the failure of animal experiments to produce cures and treatments for humans has mounted, the agency has continued to waste public funds on cruel and failed experiments.

In its strategic plan for 2016 through 2020, NIH acknowledged that “animal models often fail to provide good ways to mimic disease or predict how drugs will work in humans”—yet Collins continues to squander nearly half the agency’s budget on this pseudoscience year after year.

Collins has been at the helm of NIH’s sinking ship for more than a decade, and he’s shown himself unwilling or incapable of steering it toward modern, human-relevant research. If the U.S. is to maintain its position as a world leader in research, NIH must change course now—with a fresh, innovative new captain at the helm. SOURCE…

[EDITOR: It is clear from the documents that it is Dr. Anthony Fauci who is responsible for the funding of the above animal experiments, as he has been doing for more than four decades. However, PETA is asking for Dr. Francis Collins’ resignation (Fauci’s boss), and completely ignoring the major role that Dr. Fauci has on funding horrendous animal experiments. Which begs the question, why? The answer is because Dr. Fauci is the darling of the “intersectionalist” and liberal left, where PETA’s major donors politically reside. Asking for Fauci’s resignation would not go well with this evil bunch, and would impact their donations. This clearly shows that, once again, when it comes between protecting animals or donations, PETA always goes for the money. Disgraceful hypocrisy at the expense of innocent creatures].
