Who Are America’s Vegans And Vegetarians? [Infographic]

Fewer than one in 10 Americans adheres to one of the diets with only 5 percent saying they are vegetarian and 3 percent saying they are vegan.

NIALL McCARTHY: ‘Despite the green-eating hype, vegetarians and vegans are actually pretty rare in American eating circles today. A recent poll conducted by Gallup has found that fewer than one in 10 Americans adheres to one of the diets with only 5 percent saying they are vegetarian and 3 percent saying they are vegan.

The following infographic takes a closer look at the data to show who America’s vegans and vegetarians really are. Both diets are more common among young people with 7 percent of those aged 18-29 saying they are vegetarian along with 3 percent who are vegan. Among those aged 30-49, the figures are 8 and 4 percent respectively’. SOURCE…
