Degenerate ‘animal lover’ jailed for record 40 months for unspeakable and sadistic animal cruelty

ROHAN SMITH: ‘He has always professed his love of animals, but his actions tell a very different story. The owner of a mobile petting zoo southwest of Sydney has taught Animal Studies subjects at TAFE, praised the RSPCA for its important work and been pictured in the local paper holding various exotic creatures. But he was jailed for what the RSPCA called the “shocking” and “inexcusable” torture of a dog that entered his property in 2016.

News.com.au spoke with a former student at Ultimo TAFE where Brighton taught in 2017. The woman, who did not wish to be named, said she was “beyond disgusted at how he can work with animals then go and commit such brutal, horrifying acts on a dog”. She said Brighton taught classes on the enrichment of animals, workplace health and safety and animal health and wellbeing but “prioritised the care of exotic animals over domestic animals”.

The 30-year-old has been accused of mistreating animals before. In 2017, RSPCA officers seized four animals — an alpaca, two chickens and a kookaburra — over fears they had not received adequate veterinary treatment or sufficient food. The charges were later withdrawn’. SOURCE…
