‘LONE WOLF’: Animal liberation activist to be released from prison after serving 10-year sentence

I still maintain now, as I did then, that if we see and understand the severity of the wrongs that are going on, if we are concerned by Animals suffering and death, then the responsibility is on us to do what we can.

NAALPO: Walter Bond was arrested July 23, 2010 as the alleged ALF “Lone Wolf” charged with arson of the Sheepskin Factory in Colorado. The FBI alleged Bond admitted to an informant to setting two additional fires – one at Tandy Leather Factory, the other at Tiburon (foie gras restaurant), both in Utah. In anonymous communiques, “A.L.F. Lone Wolf” took credit.

Walter has served nearly 10 years in federal prison for the actions he took in support of animal liberation. Now he needs our support to get back on his feet in the free world. Message from Walter:

… During this past decade I have seen from my prison cell how much awareness of Animal issues has grown as well as the mainstreaming of Veganism both of which are positive advances. Of course, it will never be enough until all are free but for those of us that have been around awhile the advances from just 20 years ago are impressive.

I see a new generation of Animal activists that understand that there is a hugely effective middle ground between holding signs and waving at traffic and committing arson. They bring Direct Action Everywhere in dynamic and very intelligent ways. And so I will end with this:

I once told my comrade and still beloved friend Camille Marino that ‘there is no one to raise the alarm to besides ourselves’. I still maintain now, as I did then, that if we see and understand the severity of the wrongs that are going on, if we are concerned by Animals suffering and death then the responsibility is on us to do what we can. Each person in their own capacity can save Animals lives…
