DOWN ON THE FARM: Animal rights activist group shares anonymous video showing thousands of minks released

fur farms exist only for fashion and profit... hundreds of thousands of animals are bred and murdered for their fur every year. even if these minks lives in the wild are cut short by nature or human intervention, the farm would have undoubtedly slaughtered them all. there is real joy in bearing witness to these animals getting their first taste of freedom... until all cages are empty.

SAM SHILTS: A suspect has broken into a mink farm in Trempealeau County and released approximately 3,000 animals. In a statewide incident notification from the DOJ’s crime alert network, the sheriff’s office says the incident happened sometime between 11:00 p.m. Friday and 3:45 a.m. Saturday at Olson Fur Farm in Independence.

According to law enforcement, the suspect or suspects got into an enclosure by cutting a hole in a chain link fence surrounding the area. This is not the first incident of this type in the area, according to officials.

A spokesman from an animal rights activist group contacted News 8 Now Wednesday afternoon and shared video of the minks being released at the Independence farm. The video does not show or identify any individuals.

He said the video was submitted to his organization anonymously, and that people across the country send them similar videos like this, which they then post on their website. He said those people share the group’s ideals of taking illegal action to end animal cruelty.

“Well unfortunately the government doesn’t exist to protect animals. The government cares more about corporate profit, you know there are no laws in place to protect these animals, so people have to act outside the law to save these animals lives,” said Joseph Buddenberg, the group’s press officer.

According to the activist group’s website, the same farm was raided in 1997, when 800 mink were released.

“The Animal Liberation Front is not concerned about the law, we’re concerned about sentience, justice and bringing freedom to the innocent. The ALF will continue to free these animals and shut these businesses down. The end goal is the eradication of the fur industry, the eradication of legalized animal abuse,” said Buddenberg. SOURCE…

STATEMENT FROM ANIMAL LIBERATION MEDIA:

“a few nights ago we visited olsen fur farm (smieja) at w22875 state road 121 in independence wisconsin. it’s operational for now, but maybe releasing several hundred mink has a chance to close it for good. we hope many of the mink enjoy their freedom in the wild and that this farm will be unable to breed thousands upon thousands of them in future years. they have an opportunity now to cut their losses and leave the fur industry forever.

fur farms exist only for fashion and profit. though the industry has declined significantly in the past decade, hundreds of thousands of animals are bred and murdered for their fur every year. even if these minks lives in the wild are cut short by nature or human intervention, the farm would have undoubtedly slaughtered them all. there is real joy in bearing witness to these animals getting their first taste of freedom. we hope this action inspires others to take similar action for animals near them. with a little planning and a few cheap tools, you too can liberate hundreds of creatures in a few short hours. until all cages are empty, for humans and non human animals alike. free them ALL”.
