‘Jailbird’: Experience the world through the eyes of a chicken being sent to a human prison

The 2025 AI Film Festival Gold Award winner film ‘Jailbird,’ directed by Andrew Salter, is a documentary-style film about a prison program that employs chickens as companion animals for inmates.

The film highlights how projects like this can benefit not only animals, but the lives of those who care for them. The film began life as a series of illustrated storyboards which were described to Artificial Intelligence and gradually refined and edited together. Jailbird began life as a series of illustrated storyboards I made with the hopes of gaining the interest of real life charity projects. As an experiment I meticulously described these drawings to Artificial Intelligence. Gradually, I refined these videos to produce the shots needed to edit together this version of the film. With the exception of the drawings included at the end, all of the visuals were generated using AI. SOURCE
