National Animal Rights Day: Hundreds of L.A. activists carry murdered animals in their arms in memorial

We mourn their loss, express their pain through ours, and reach out on their behalf to anyone who has a heart to listen. We also celebrate the living animals who are part of our lives.

BHVISHYA PATEL: ‘Hundreds of animal rights activists carried the bodies of dead animals through the streets of Los Angeles yesterday during a memorial service for the slaughtered creatures. As the march commenced in the South Californian city, campaigners, dressed in T-shirts that read ‘Our planet. Theirs too’, flooded the streets to highlight the plight of animals killed by humans for their meat and fur. The sombre protest was held in conjunction with the ninth Annual National Animal Rights Day.. Crowds of activists could be seen carrying dead animals in their hands as they walked through the iconic city to mourn the loss of animals across the globe and advocate a vegan lifestyle.

Spectators looked on open mouthed as the campaigners, some of whom were spotted carrying dead pigs, cats and birds, walked with signs bearing images of the cruelty inflicted on animals inside factory farms. The march concluded on Pan Pacific Park on 7600 Beverly Boulevard where a public memorial for the animals was held. National Animal Rights Day was established by the non-profit organization Our Planet. Theirs Too. in 2011 and is now celebrated across 30 cities around the world on the first Sunday in June.

A message on the organization’s website reads: ‘The National Animal Rights Day was created to give a voice to these billions and billions of anonymous nameless beings. On this day, we stop everything else, and remember them. ‘We mourn their loss, express their pain through ours, and reach out on their behalf to anyone who has a heart to listen. We also celebrate the living animals who are part of our lives, and the great strides that are being made every year towards ending the suffering of animals, and transitioning mankind to a plant-based lifestyle. We will do so until all animals are free and have equal rights to human animals on planet Earth’.’  SOURCE…
