BRIAN NIEMIETZ: Actress Hayden Panettiere shot a PETA ad to protect dolphins from marine parks weeks before she died on Sunday. The animal rights group is now sharing video and photos for that campaign that show the 36-year-old actor naked in a bathtub to illustrate how sea creatures in captivity live. “Can you imagine their frustration, their trauma, their depression?” Panettiere asks.
She encourages fellow activists to help end animal cruelty by working to stop dolphins from being kept in tanks and pools by staying clear places that keep such mammals on display. “In their ocean homes they can be with their families, dive deep to escape the hot sun and enjoy the rain on their backs,” she says. “All of that is taken from them when they are confined to small tanks.”
PETA calls the campaign “a poignant final chapter in Panettiere’s fierce advocacy for marine mammals,” which began in 2007 when she and other protesters were filmed confronting aggressive fishermen in Japan. Then 18 years old, she told Access Hollywood she was well aware she could’ve been harmed, but once she paddled toward the fishermen and their nets, “the fear just completely went away.” SOURCE
